I just got prescribed tramadol 50mg?

I am having horrible cramps so my mom had my doctor called me in a prescription and she just gave it to me and said be careful this is a narcotic. So I researched it and it said that you shouldn't take it if your under 18 (which I am). I'm wondering if I should take it or have my doctor give me another prescription?
