Culturally speaking, what would your psychological...ahem...i mean cultural essment be of this indivual?

My MIL is like that. However, she lives in Italy while we are here in the USA. When I go there in the summer with hubby and kids, she can be very invasive herself. I've learned, in all these years, to completely "not hear her" while she's talking. It's amazing how a human mind's can work that well. As a matter of fact, she asks me sometimes:" Are you listening to what I'm saying?" My response is the same:" Of course I am. Can we move on now?" My point is: you won't teach an old dog new tricks. She is older and extremely stubborn. You either 1) confront her with no avail or 2) completely shut her out of your ears. There is no other way to do this and still, live in harmony.
